The Artist
I'm Noryne Taylor of Decorous Studio. I love working with the precious metals and gemstones that our planet provides. As I melt, form and polish metal, I feel I am only taking part in a larger creative process that began with the earth itself. Jewelry making allows me to explore ideas of beauty and adornment, as well as the relationships we have between concepts of who we are and the outward expressions that we choose.
This journey began for me at the local visual arts center, the Hui No'eau in Makawao, Maui. There I met J.B. Rea, head of the jewelry department, a highly respected master silversmith and also the most dedicated teacher I had ever encountered. Under his tutelage I discovered a craft that allowed me the expressive freedom I'd been looking for.
Today, jewelry is my passion. It is my craft, my art, my hobby and my therapy.
Jewelry is fun. Life is fun. And all I want to do is have fun, feel free and turn up the music real loud. I do the best work I can and am committed to my company, my jewelry and the happiness of my customers. Thank you for visiting with me.
